doco overdose

2004
07.31

miff is great. except i have too much doco. the last one i saw today was about afghanistan, budha and a boy. it was good. we decided to detoxicate with some holywood sci-fi, i-robot. as usual, it was so so.

im with three now. contract with optus is already expired. my new lg is giving me lots of trouble. three network is also annoying. sometimes, without reasons, there will be outage lasting for about 1 hour where you cant contact ppl and ppl cant contact you. weird huh. otherwise, everything else is good. voda is trying to compete on price. they recently introduced a 79 super cap. not exactly a cap. if you spend equals to 79 (including txt, pxt, etc), you dont have to pay anything up to 500. similar like three, but your mind makes it think the other way…..

jelita put me on atkin’s diet. i.e. no carbohidrate or refined sugars. its been two days and damn, its hard. i also went running on the track. plus the body pump. i felt so healthy today its not even funny. except when i had to go against ’suggested diet’ and indulge myself in the not-so-sinful salty popcorn. she told me that i could eat rice if i follow the diet strictly for two weeks. no harm trying. my body is aching now and i could imagine a good nice sleep.

school has started

today was my first day at uni… at 9 am… that was my earliest class since God knows when….i have a nice timetable this semester. theoretically 2 days off, practically 3 days off….. thats because i tend to skip class that is being held in odd days and at odd hours…. what an example…

for those of u who know me, and dont know what i have been up to.. the past 65 hours have been quite a challenge. i stopped having fast food. i stopped drinking soft drink. and i stopped smoki^& (yea that word is banned in my blog). no patches whatsoever. just cold turkey. it has been hard but im living it at the moment. i dont know how long will it last, but for now, its sustainable.

also, P is here. its funny that i have been busy with my industrial project and its just the beginning of the semester. oh yes, the melbourne international film festival is on now. and i bought a nice minipass for $105.00 which basically give u rights to 10 movie tickets plus 3 bonus tickets. its definitely worth it. the only thing is, its eating my honorarium. i thought i would save some of my honorarium to later use. unfortunately, most of them are already gone paying bills such as water, electricity, house phone and broadband… oh welll….

anyway.. i better get on with my Gantt chart now.. tomm im having mentor meeting (despite its being my off day)… and im suposed to draw the diagram and email our mentor by tonight….

after that, im gonna catch Zero Day at 9pm.. followed by Pool session at 10.30ish!

signing off!!!

we must have been born for a purpose

2004
07.20

the question about life’s purpose has always been on my mind. it is a complex one. more complex than chicken-egg analogy. so what is our purpose in life. you cant just grow up, study, get a job, get married, have a family, and die. i dont think life is as simple as that.

because in order to have something good you must have something bad to compare with at the first place. so is a person who is being bad is considered a service to human evolution because without them there will be no good samatarian. is being bad can be considered as ‘the calling’ in life?

i was just watching ‘the world according to Bush’ part one in SBS today. after which, me and Sharon was engaged in sms ‘adult’ conversation about the war, the americans and the french… its really interesting to know how many good people out there thinking about the world problem. but really, are we too powerless to do something? is the american president the most powerful person in the world? how could he or she be? because in the final analysis, we all were born bare naked, breathe the same air, die the same way (ed: Kennedy’s is paraphrased).

maybe some of us are just too ignorant… but can they be blamed for being just them? the amount of trust that we put to people are just amazingly unique. the trust we put in church leaders, in our teachers, in our world leaders…. beyond belief and recognition… perhaps being democratic has many flaws… because the very leaders who sneak through the system speaks the same language as us when they are being criticised: ‘im democratically elected’, ‘the people have decided’…. sicken me…. when it gets to ugly (and normally this is after huge disgusting greed and bad deeds), people’s power as they like to term it as, starts to work…. more as a damage control mechanism rather than a redress to what has happened….

enough of my rants… this world is too unjust to hear them anyway!

marriage is a beautiful thing

2004
07.20

before my ‘rant’ on marriage, i forgot to let you all know that on my flight back from Brissie to freezin Melbourne, i sat behind Terry (the BB housemate) who was evicted early. It looked like she is coming over for shopping… the steward was glued to her and giving her ‘guidance’ on where to shops in Melbourne…..

anyway… i was watching tele today… and i found the concept of marriage is very intriguing… such a lovely unit. if i have a family, i could imagine myself spending a lot of time with them, fixing the house, doing groceries together with my son running around the supermarket, buying him toys, talking adult and family stuff with my better half… that idea strucks me to the heart… perhaps i have overdose of family love for the past three days… it started of course with my little trip to sharon’s place for her bday treat….she has such a nice family… and the whole time i kept imagining myself having my own family……..

of course all these thoughts are in context… yes i know i havent even graduated….. one more semester to go… and there is the whole confusion about what to do next…. in the mean time.. i have started collecting all my paperworks for PR applicaiton just in case if my dad changed his mind about sending me to China… or even doing both at the same time if possible…. i will be having my medical checkup this coming friday… scary thoughts… for some reason.. the idea of getting someone knowing your physical stuff really scares me….. but uve got to do what youve got to do i suppose….

school is starting is one week time…. mie is starting hers tomm… she has been pretty stressed for her thesis.. i think its due in about 4 months time…. hmmm… lucky i shelved the idea of doing honours as fast as i picked up the brochure…..i couldnt bear another university year…. its not a pretty imagination…. i still like the idea of going to Beijing just to study Mandarin…a new country…coz i love travelling… but for now.. i will see how the next one month will unfold…..hopefully it will shed a new light as to how my life would be in 2005…..

gonna buzz now… tomm have to wake up early to clock into the office… the post conference stuff really bothers me now… with the annual statement yet to be lodged, all constitutional amendments as well as finalising all the accounts… urrggghhh… not forgetting my industrial project stuff…..

oh well… the cycle will never stop!

All President’s Men

i finished watching Moore’s Fahrenheit 911 with a strong conviction of my earlier presupposition that the war in Iraq is the war for oil. yes, i have supported Bush but no i despised his war policy and his war rethorics (refer to my postings leading up to the war)…. sounds contradictory? it might be… but anytime i would choose Bush over Kerry….. I prefer Clark but then the American democrats made a bad choice this time….

Moore’s doco is undoubtedly bias….. (as expected).. but it gave enough evidences (even though its selective) on why the war in Iraq has never been justified…. perhaps thats enough to unseat Bush from his presidency… and Howard, Blair for that matter….

Another surprising (not really) is the handover of Spore prime-ministership from Goh, to Lee Kuan Yew’s son, Lee Hsien Loong, due to take place in Aug 12. This simply means that the new PM will deliver the Aug 22’s National Day Celebration address. Some critics have suggested that Goh is a seat warmer to the Lee’s wrench on Spore, despite the popularity of the incumbent PM. The change in the captaincy will reshape the whole South East Asia region in this decade. We have seen Suharto and Mahathir gone…. the new people taking office. Perhaps its Australia’s turn?? Anytime i would love to see that wan*&^ go!

it is FINALLY over !!
