Bush won second term (projected)

2004

Bush is about one electoral college vote away from winning his second term, after major networks called Ohio in his favor. THis is something that Sr Bush will have a mixed feeling upon: a proud father yet a jealous fmr president ( he lost his bid for second term to Pres Clinton).

Currently, there are only handful of states still in play: Wisconsin, Nevada, Hawaii, New Mexico, Michigan, and Iowa

The other two battleground states: Florida and Pennsylvania have both been predicted to favor Bush and Kerry respectively.

It is now, a matter of time, before we hear concession from Kerry and victory speech from Bush…..

Still counting..

GUEST POST: (in)decision 2004

I wonder if anyone is watchfully eyeing the results of the US Presidential race (instead of studying) as intently as this household is.

After tonight, Bush & Kerry wind down their twelve-month campaign: stop pointing fingers, stop throwing perfectly good money down the drain on propaganda, kiss their own children instead of random babies that belong to someone else, replace my tv time on presidential debates with episodes of sex & the city and the OC, and either one will go back to raising his hand in the senate or the other return to making companies insolvent & chopping wood on a texas ranch.

And despite all pretenses (if anyone watched the ‘US is too superpower(ed)’ episode of Insight several weeks ago), the world is going to be a very different place.

After tonight, Tedy & I will hopefully back down a little from our usual political “discussions”, stop throwing perfectly good money on campaign donations, kiss not from making up but just cause we want to, be able to watch seasons 1-4 of the West Wing on dvd together (its been a long wait and 1-3 are still in the packaging), and either one of us will go back to worrying about exams, graduating & finding a job or the other will go back to worrying about exams, graduating & finding a job. Oh wait…

And although they say its good to have political alternatives, whoever wins, one of us is going to end up in tears.

Well, I hope everyone’s having a fun election eve. Even if we don’t get to vote. Tedy says he’s throwing a party at his place if Bush wins. I hope he doesn’t.

With kind regards & in lieu of Mr Gunawan*,
mie.
