!!hOoRaY!!

So, i sent my PR application on Friday, the 14th. I received an email acknowledgement from them on the 18th Jan. The email said that another letter will be sent to me to advise me on the name of my case officer and any documents that i might be missing (i was already thinking of my IELTS test)….

so for the past week or so, i was nervously waiting for the letter.

then, as i opened my letter box yesterday, a plain envelope sent from Adelaide Skill Processing Center came. I was nervous.

when i opened the envelope, there was the receipt of my payment together with two page letter. it said: my application for PR has been granted as of 24th Jan…. oh oh my… i was sooo happy. it took me only 6 days!!!! hoooray!!!

so today before nus nat exec, i went to DIMIA office to get the new visa stamp….and guess what… the line under Visa Conditions read: NIL …. hmmmm….

oh well.. now i only have to worry about my master’s application. given that i have applied under international student, i have to let them know…

anyway… i was really really happy.

for those of you who love to death the West Wing, you might have heard that the producer is considering making a republican administration as soon as Bartlet finishes with his.

so, i happened to browse through the internet and came across the great first scene of the Republican administration: (courtesy: http://expage.com/notowar2)

********

Introduction : Scene 1 – Dubbya in the Oval Office being briefed by National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice.

George: Condi! Nice to see you. What’s happening?

Condi: Sir, I have the report here about the new leader of China.

George: Great. Lay it on me.

Condi: Hu is the new leader of China.

George: That’s what I want to know.

Condi: That’s what I’m telling you.

George: That’s what I’m asking you. Who is the new leader of China?

Condi: Yes.

George: I mean the fellow’s name.

Condi: Hu.

George: The guy in China.

Condi: Hu.

George: The new leader of China.

Condi: Hu.

George: The Chinaman!

Condi: Hu is leading China.

George: Now whaddya’ asking me for?

Condi: I’m telling you Hu is leading China.

George: Well, I’m asking you. Who is leading China?

Condi: That’s the man’s name.

George: That’s who’s name?

Condi: Yes.

George: Will you or will you not tell me the name of the new leader of China?

Condi: Yes, sir.

George: Yassir? Yassir Arafat is in China? I thought he was in the Middle East.

Condi: That’s correct.

George: Then who is in China?

Condi: Yes, sir.

George: Yassir is in China?

Condi: No, sir.

George: Then who is?

Condi: Yes, sir.

George: Yassir?

Condi: No, sir.

George: Look, Condi. I need to know the name of the new leader of China. Get me the Secretary General of the U.N. on the phone.

Condi: Kofi?

George: No, thanks.

Condi: You want Kofi?

George: No.

Condi: You don’t want Kofi.

George: No. But now that you mention it, I could use a glass of milk. And then get me the U.N.

Condi: Yes, sir.

George: Not Yassir! The guy at the U.N.

Condi: Kofi?

George: Milk! Will you please make the call?

Condi: And call who?

George: Who is the guy at the U.N?

Condi: Hu is the guy in China.

George: Will you stay out of China?!

Condi: Yes, sir.

George: And stay out of the Middle East! Just get me the guy at the U.N.

Condi: Kofi.

George: All right! With cream and two sugars. Now get on the phone. (Condi picks up the phone)

Condi: Rice, here.

George: Rice? Good idea. And a plate of Dim Sims with lots of Soy. Maybe we should send some to the guy in China.

Condi: And the Middle East sir ? (Deadpan)

George: Can you get Chinese food in the Middle East?

Condi: I’ll check sir (Leaves the Oval Office, heard muttering DIM SON under her breath)

Next Scene – Coming Soon – Dubbya on the hotline to Canberra – Expect plenty of background grovelling and empty platitudes.

trashed

2005
01.22

getting trashed two days in a row is definitely an experience…. the hangover in the morning was fixed with another round of spirit and warm white wine. hell, i was too konked out even to say proper goodbye to yvette who has already left for the states.

grr…

whats even worse is, trying to read The Little Prince while you have gigantic needles poking and making ur head spinning, was definitely an interesting sight…..

so terje has mates in the moon radio band (i think thats what they are called) and we cruised to hifi for the gig. they were awesome and engaging. despite occasional grumbling from a drunken aussie singing ‘you are my sunshine’ the solksjaer version (apparently its the pickup line for the ida – norwegian girl), rounds of drinks silenced him amongst the crowd and overamplified speakers…..

what’s next? a house boat party for 7 days in a row with spa on board at $207 per person now seems really exciting. we gonna go in mid feb if its all happening….

in the mean time, the drum rolls on..(along with the bottoms up)

indulgence

2005
01.20

i have indulged myself in the following:
-the west wing, s6
-24, s4
-lost, s1
-the oc, s2
-desperate housewives, s1

they are top rated shows!!! esp the first three. lost is just another awesome show… the tense is unbelievable!!! i have spent hours in front of monitors reading posters’ theories and speculations about the show! i think 7 might snatch the rating this time with lost and desperate housewives….

last night i received the cpa letter (its more of me opening the mail box at night).

this morning i lodged the 500g documents of PR application to the ASPC. i am relieved.

while the ielts english test is still bothering me (YES, they did change the rule under the new booklet), i was hoping that accountant is not taken off the migration occupation on demand list, at least not until my application is finished from being assessed.

now the exciting part begins.

wait wait wait wait wait wait wait….

i hate waiting.

unbelievable

2005
01.12

soo much discussion was spent on how corrupt the countries who are receiving the funds for the trunami appeals and the fear that the funds might end up in the wrong pockets… but little was placed on the corruptions that were going on behind the relief organisations……

when indonesia was given US$500 million from the US govt for the tsunami fund, the indonesian govt was scrambling to find ‘organiser’ as well as independent auditor to make sure that the fund will be disbursed accordingly and at the same time appease and project to the press that govt and officials will not look for ‘opportunities’ to get some shares of the pie.

the natural choice would be the UN. and guess what… it asks for a fee… a whopping one that is… US$350 million… no joke!! so it lefts with $150 million for the victims or reconstruction efforts.

it doesnt make sense and it should not make sense.

unbelievable!

the good and the bad

2005
01.12

ok i will start with the bad first:

with deep regret, i have to surrender chester and sasha to the animal hospital. i could no longer provide care for them.. thanks to the stooopid new property manager who sent me that threatening Breach of Duty Notice… while i replied the letter with the same tone the original letter was sent, i knew its time for me to give them up… sorry chester and sasha…

my heart broke when sasha was screaming all the time on our way there while chester was confined to the portable cage. the case officer was nice. they were given their case numbers and were placed in the cage…they are up for adoption. i spent at least 5 minutes with them before i reluctantly leave.

feeling very guilty and sad, i decided to give donation for the cause. i hope they will get good home.. better if someone take them both at once.. they have never been separated since i got them :(

bye chester and sasha. thanks for the memory. and my sincere apologies again for abandoning you guys. it was for the best. hiks hiks hiks hiks…..

ok now to the good stuff:

yvette sent me meti’s book. thank you!!! finally i have a copy. you might know about the book im talking about since i posted it couple of months ago….

and….the breaking news…..Congrats to Yvette for being accepted as an Intern at the UN HQ in NY!!!!! I feel sooooo happy, excited, and extremely proud of you gal!!! While the circumstance in which the offer was made is quite hasty….(being told to leave the country in 12 days isnt exactly exciting)…. i would literally ‘kill’ you if you dont take the offer…. im sure you can work things out at your end….OMG… i still dun believe it….. while its a ‘corrupt’ organisation, im sure you have the best intention of helping humanity find its roots and footings at heart when you applied! and working at the Disarmament division is just amazing… there is no time in history (our life time that is) that is more apt than this troubling time……my prayers are with you at this time!!

oh well…

i committed sinful indulgences with Jelita today. big dippers, almond magnum, gaytime(icecream brand that is) and almond dark chocolates are just the worst evil. but ladder 49 was good. plus ’shut down’ was exciting! i hope you are converted. even if you are not, remember the deal we had once u finish ur exam…. a full blown west wing camp (plus adrian if he wants to join for side commentary)!!!!

now back to the harsh reality of the world:

-cpa hasnt given me the assessment letter.. urghh
-my english points might be in doubt without ielts
-looking for ANY casual jobs available….to keep me busy for the time being….

nite!

when the first song was sang…. i was touched. for the first time in the australian television history, three commercial networks simultaneously combined their efforts together in presenting Australia Unites concert for the Tsunami appeal. Donations are made to World Vision who will use the money to help for the affected victims and rebuilding efforts.

they raised $15.6m by the end of the night. thank you Australia. let history reflects that you truly care about your neighbours when they are in need!

the blog propaganda

2005
01.07

i was rushing when i typed itt’s blog. the page opened up a totally different site than i was expected. i opened this site instead. i couldnt understand it at first. my first reaction: it has been hijacked by christian evangelist.

little i realised that i have mistyped the address. instead of blogSpot, i typed blogpot (without an S).

in fact, if you have a blogger account and is hosted by blogspot… you can type your blog address and used blogpot instead of blogSpot.. and you will have the same page appearing on your monitor. .. they redirected every single error page to their main blogpot.com……. not a bad idea actually…. given that a lot of people might have done exactly the same thing… missing an s..,, and you know what.. if you typed with the full ten fingers… you will realise that nearly all the letters in ‘blogspot’ requires you to utilise only your right hand… ’s’ is located in the far left….

sooo much of the propaganda…. the blog propaganda…
