so Fon and I were catching up yesterday at Red Silk. the conversation was wide ranging – pretty much everything under the sun (from holidays, pr, work, nlc, the guy across the street who kept staring at us from his room, the sleaky backpackers motel, etc)… somehow, the conversation took a twist into internet, digital forensic, cyberterrorism and marketing research.
so i was just mentioning to Fon that in the States, households are actually paid for their garbage to be inspected by all these marketing research companies. they would then be able to determine what is your typical consumption from your garbage.
i then coined the idea of Blog Your Gargabe Day (BYG Day) – where ppl who are interested, in a single day of each month, took picture of whatever in their gargabe bin on that day….
so to live up to my promise to her, here is a pic of my garbage today (and some description if you are interested):
there are:
-indomie goreng (indonesian instant noodles)
-yesterday’s MX (melb’s free newspaper)
-medibank card (my oshc card – no longer needed coz now im on Medicare)
-hungry jack (equivalent to Burger King in other countries, i bought Vegie Meal on thursday)
-melb uni envelope (letter containing acknowledgement of my application for master)
-amazon return cut out (i have to print off return slip from the website and cut out the relevant part to be pasted at the front of the package. this is the remainder)
-origin pamphlet (yea.. my electricity bill came with that origin brochure)
-Two packets of chips (one of them is Roller Coasters – cheese flavor).
hmmm.. this is fun…make sure u remind me when i have to do it next month!
