this is my conversation with PK about the British Royal Family (and my confused and limited understanding of the Royal):

[21:34] emailtedy: hello $10b boy!
[21:35] praneet_keni: hey!!!
[21:35] praneet_keni: ha ha
[21:35] emailtedy: i have been researching… when queen elizabeth dies, why not her husband become king?
[21:35] emailtedy: but instead her son?
[21:35] praneet_keni: well thats cos… her husband is not of royal blood
[21:36] emailtedy: oh ok
[21:36] emailtedy: hmmm
[21:37] emailtedy: i would rather have King William than King Charles
[21:37] emailtedy: hehhe
[21:37] praneet_keni: do u think Australia will still continue to be a constitutional monarchy… even after Charles becomes the king?
[21:37] praneet_keni: yeah… same here
[21:37] emailtedy: no way!
[21:37] emailtedy: i think they will be Republic
[21:37] emailtedy: public opinion would change then
[21:37] emailtedy: there will be another referendum
[21:37] emailtedy: the reason the last referendum defeated was because ppl have still great respect for the Queen
[21:38] emailtedy: but when Charles becomes the King
[21:38] praneet_keni: yeah
[21:38] emailtedy: it is all downhill!
[21:38] praneet_keni: Charles is very short-tempered… & isn’t a very good diplomat
[21:38] praneet_keni: thats why Queen Elisabeth wants to prolong her time on the throne…
[21:39] emailtedy: well i know the answer to my question
[21:39] emailtedy: well
[21:39] emailtedy: my question should be phrased differently
[21:39] emailtedy: i was asking
[21:40] emailtedy: why when Queen is on the throne, the husband is not called the King but instead Prince
[21:40] praneet_keni: yeah… i know
[21:40] emailtedy: but when the King is in the throne, the wife of the King is called the Queen
[21:40] emailtedy: hehhe
[21:40] praneet_keni: thats called royal sexism!
[21:40] praneet_keni: :-P
[21:40] emailtedy: In terms of precedence a King is higher than a Queen, which means that in every case where there is a King and a Queen, the King would outrank the Queen. When it is a Queen who holds the throne in her own right (a Queen regnant, like the present Queen Elizabeth II), her consort has been referred to as a Price to make the point that it is she that takes precedence. Therefore, the Queen Mother was Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth (Queen to King George VI), but Queen Victoria’s husband was Prince Albert and Queen Elizabeth II’s husband is Prince Philip.

The only example where both a King and a Queen have held the throne is with King William and Queen Mary at the end of the 17th century. This was because they held the throne jointly.
[21:41] praneet_keni: i still think its very sexist
[21:42] emailtedy: thats not as bad as their anti-catholicism!
[21:43] praneet_keni: ha ha ha ha
[21:43] praneet_keni: r u saying that just cos u r a catholic?!!!
[21:44] emailtedy: no
[21:44] emailtedy: the Bills of Right and Act of Settlement of the British said it!
[21:44] emailtedy: A Roman Catholic is specifically excluded from succession to the throne; nor may the Sovereign marry a Roman Catholic. The Sovereign must, in addition, be in communion with the Church of England and must swear to preserve the established Church of England and the established Church of Scotland. The Sovereign must also promise to uphold the Protestant succession.
[21:45] praneet_keni: oh well…
[21:45] emailtedy: what if a King is gay, and has an adopted son
[21:45] emailtedy: ??
[21:45] emailtedy: hehhe
[21:45] emailtedy: what would the line of succession be?
[21:45] praneet_keni: ha ha ha ha
[21:46] emailtedy: i guess all the cousins
[21:47] emailtedy: how come Prince Andrew cant become King after Prince CHarles? why William?
[21:47] emailtedy: for example if Prince Charles dies earlier than the Queen
[21:47] praneet_keni: well… if Prince Charles dint have kids… then his family line would have continued in the throne
[21:47] praneet_keni: but if the eldest son has kids…
[21:48] praneet_keni: the eldest son’s eldest kid will get the throne & so on
[21:48] emailtedy: pity the second son
[21:48] emailtedy: hehhe
[21:48] praneet_keni: so Harry won’t really get the throne… unless he murderes William
[21:48] emailtedy: what if William has son out of wedlock
[21:48] emailtedy: will that be recognised
[21:48] emailtedy: what if William never marry someone, but pregnated a girl somewhere in Africa?
[21:49] praneet_keni: ha ha ha ha…
[21:49] emailtedy: royal blood
[21:49] praneet_keni: but I think… Harry is more capable of doin such stuff than Willy
[21:49] emailtedy: what if.. Prince Charles…. before marrying Diana, already has a son with Camilla??????
[21:50] emailtedy: thats a million dollar question!
[21:50] praneet_keni: hmmm…. probably thats why Camilla blackmailed him & got him to marry her
[21:50] praneet_keni: :D
[21:51] emailtedy: what happen? do you know?
[21:52] praneet_keni: nope… i dunno what happens if a prince in line… has a child out of wedlock… but then again… when u r in that position… enjoying that much power & money… guess u can easily buy people off… as long as the media doesn’t get the scent of it… u r safe
[21:53] emailtedy: what if it gets out?
[21:53] emailtedy: hahahah
[21:53] praneet_keni: well… people r also pretty fickle…
[21:54] emailtedy: oh well.. im not that big with this monarch business
[21:54] emailtedy: im just confused
[21:54] praneet_keni: at one time many people used to hate the Royal family after Diana’s death
[21:54] emailtedy: hehhe
