channel seven and nine run live feed of the corby’s verdict. and im fixed in front of the tele. there have been high criticism about how the indonesian legal system is handling the case. what i don’t appreciate is the unitelligent comments about how unfair the judges have been. the fact that the judges have allowed the ‘hearsay of hearsay’ testimony of a victorian prisoner, which would not have been allowed in the australian court has shown that the judges are open minded about the case.
corby has three charges against her: (1)trafficking, (2) importation and (3) possession. each carries its own penalty. the judges are now taking turn in delivering the judgement. i could see that corby is showing high emotion halfway through the judgment.
the verdict:
1. corby has been proven guilty of importation of schedule 1 narcotics.
2. twenty years sentence with 100m rupiah fines, payable in 6 months
