BS’s Black Friday

2005

BS has gone mad. It was the dreading Black Friday that every investor has been talking about (so much of mimickin the 1929’s crash)!

My $300T has been revalued to a mere $30b…. crazy! Everybody is selling his/her holdings…. I don’t even recognise the market anymore!

Xmas in Singapore?

My aunt told me that attending the 12am mass in Jakarta’s cathedral would not be the best thing we would have done this year (well, there is no 12am mass anymore now, 10pm would be the latest!)… all these bomb threats are really not funny…. my thought was…hey i could be one of those martyrs who were killed while proclaiming their faiths..but that idea went down the drain as soon as i thought of it…..

so for now, our little outing plan would be a Mass in Singapore…..that would be lovely…. after all, i need a quick trip there to send my Ferrari for repair… the wireless thingo is really killing me….

finally…. somebody is making sense

a few months ago, i raised the inconsistency that australian media and public has over their stance on death penalty, and i quote me (for full article, you can click here):

I do not want to argue about her innocence. this is not what this post is about. it is more about the hype that Australian media has tried to generate over the entire case. Especially over the ‘death penalty’ issue. I, myself, do not believe in death penalty, whatever the case is. But it seems to me that Australian public in general, agree and disagree with capital punishment according to their convenience. In this case, they feel that death penalty is immoral, tragic and unwarranted. Few recall the strong stance of Australian public in supporting the death penalty during the trials of Bali bombing. How ironic? It seems to me that it’s ok for indonesians who committed a crime that carries capital punishment to receive death penalty, but its not ok for Australians.

How about being consistent for a change?

Now, the Australian public is going through the same thing with Nguyen’s imminent death sentence in Singapore. I must reiterate, that i do not believe in capital punishment. I think no government has the right to take the life of another, especially using it as a punishment mechanism.

Nothing can summed up my feeling on this better than Tim Lindsey:

“John Howard’s position lacks consistency. We are unconcerned when the death penalty is applied to non-Australian citizens. Yet it is an act of barbarism when it is applied to Australians. Now, the death penalty is either right or wrong. It can’t be right or wrong according to the citizenship of the person. There is a moral and political decision for Australia to take and, so far, we are trying to ignore it.”

Finally…. Paul Kelly has the nerve to bring it out open… kudo to you mate! I cannot concur more than what you have put in your article!

OZ OZ OZ Oi Oi Oi!!

Finally, after 32 years, Socceroos is going to the World Cup Final..

I nearly had three heart attacks in the second half, extra time and penalty shoot outs.

It just goes to show that their preseverance in the typical OZ sport spirit prevails in the end.

It’s about time.

Germany 2006! Here they come!

Dems… wake up!! STOP HILLARY NOW.

I like to see the first wom*n to be the US President in my lifetime. Just not Hillary. What are the dems thinking? Do they seriously believe that Americans would like to have another Clinton years, except with reversed roles between the two main characters. Even with the male Clinton taking the busier office, he could still find time to cater for his sexual addiction. Can you imagine him being the First Gentleman? With all the idle time in the world, accusations from the maids will surely surface within the first 100 days. And the only explanation he would be able to offer then, “because i could”.

Everybody knows that Hillary wasn’t serious in representing the New Yorkers – look at how many days in a year she spent in the state (discounting the campaign season, of course!). She always has aspiration to be the Leader of the Free World, and the only way she could do that is setting up a strong platform by being a Senator, an accomplishment i noted with many disgusts. Remember all the pardons Bill gave prior to leaving the office so that New Square voted for her in the Senate election? How about her racist comment about the South Asian communities in the States (does she really think that Gandhi ran the gas station in St Louis?) The best so far is the way the left the office, taking away more furnitures and antiques that do not even belong to them! I don’t even want to talk about her domestic policies, flip-floping whenever she finds it convenient….. She is currently reforming herself, to be a more moderate left, but do you really think that she has changed? Just like Bill said that he had ‘a change of heart’??

Come on Dems… wake up!! Give somebody else a chance…. Just not Hillary…. I know the Clinton machine is still well-oiled and without a doubt she is the best fundraiser that you’ve got now… but if you want to win the White House in ‘08, give her a flick…Anyone But Clinton!! Stop Hillary Now!!

gear up for the WW’s live debate

2005
11.06

this Sunday (US time), Vinnick and Santos will square each others off in a much anticipated live debate for the WW – the first live episode ever. there will be two of them, one for each of the West and East Coast audience (yes, you heard me right, two versions!). Apparently, they have received extensive training on debating strategies. So while the live debate is scripted, you can expect some exchanges that are unplanned.

hopefully this will raise the now faltering profile of the WW (partly due to ABC’s Commander in Chief, featuring the first wom*n presidency), so that Fox will renew the WW into the 8th episode.

Vinnick or Santos? We shall see.

the trouble with iif()

when you have done your first programming subject, you felt a good relief of joining an exclusive group of elite people who understand step-by-step logic a bit better (red – ok, its not that exclusive, everybody has encountered a bit of programming when they fire up their office applications, but the point remains). I still remembered vaquely that feelin back in 2000.

it is when you have to do object oriented programming, your curse cannot be louder over what objects, properties or methods to call or reference to.

i have just advanced by understanding of vb in the past 2 weeks by an unprecented level of knowing microsoft’s objects, that coupled with highly advanced sql.

while the frustration over nearly three days on a simple procedure can really kill off any happy mood, a simple query on the Usenet will definitely help you over.

I say Thank God for Usenet, for the trouble with IIF() is now resolved.
