only months ago, we were excited by Google’s acquisition of Writely..a server based Word-type application which will change the way people write and save documents forever… now while still in limited beta testing mode, Google once again attacked the core business of Microsoft with the overnight launch of Google Spreadsheet. It appears that Google knew how to defend its online presence best –> the best defence is to attack. While downplaying the release as ‘complementary’, it will definitely upset Microsoft, already set back by the late launch of Vista and Office 2007.
Google Speadsheet will allow users to collaborately edit documents online with chat options too. What a collaborative tool! Gone will be USBs and sending large spreadsheets in several versions which annoy me most.
the question is what’s next? server based OS? it soon could be a reality. very exciting!
