The Vast Right Wing Conspiracy II

2006
09.26

Clinton is upset! I have never seen him so animated and so red-faced in any of his public appearances. But it took Christ Wallace to set the fire burning…..Clinton was so upset that he accused Christ of doing ‘conservative hit job’!

You can get the transcript of the interview from Fox News by clicking here.

But obviously, nothing beat watching the interview directly to learn how angry Clinton was….just go to FoxNews.com and search for the most watched video!!! (hint: starts with ‘Heated Discussion’ and just let it runs several videos with ads in between – dont bother with Google Video or YouTube.. they are copyrighted)

Will and Poll

I was re-watching The West Wing for the sixth times and in the ‘Game On’ episode, i was struck once again with Will Balley’s quote on poll:

Sixty percent is six of ten in a focus group. You change one mind, it’s a dead heat. You change two, it’s a landslide. This campaign’s a mechanism of persuasion. We’re not asking for a show of hands.

picdate – follow up

i realised that i have barely added any latest pics of myself lately in either my gallery (which is hard to update now – i need a better platform) or even within my blogposts.

a picture is worth a thousand words and indeed it is.

in my attempt for greater vanity exercise, (apart from keeping graphical memories of how bloated i am), i present to you all the picdate – a follow up from the last picture update post i did, while recognising how popular the post was: – thanks to all of you who have sarcastically commented on how i look in that pic… yes.. i’m referring to you PK, Huey, Tiffy and Chrissie!!!!:

context

we owe it to ourselves before descending and joining the current word-fare following the Pope’s statement to read his address in full.

here it is.

only then we can form a fuller opinion on the issue.

my take on it: whether the Pope’s statement is valid or not, becomes a moot point. Because such statement reflects Papal’s ‘time-insensitivity’ towards the current global political discourse. The overreaction by the offended in some parts of the world is equally deplorable.

Ratu Sejagad

This is by far the best indo song i’ve heard this year. Originally it was sung by Vonny Sumlang but it took Ratu (famous with its Teman Tapi Mesra’s track) to bring this catchy song to a new level!

You can download the mp3 from here.

The lyrics of this song is here:

Ratu Sejagad – Ratu

Rasa deg deg an di hatiku
Saat kutatap paras wajahku di cermin
Pipi merah bibirku merah
Merekah menantang setiap pandangan

Kupoles lagi alis mataku
Hidung telinga jidat tangan sampai betis
Waw betapa cantiknya wajahku malam ini
Pasti aku terpilih jadi ratu

Aku berbisik dalam hati
Mungkinkah ini kan terjadi sesungguhnya
Kulangkahkan kaki menyusuri
Panggung pemilihan ratu sejagad
Putar ke kiri balik ke kanan
Senyum sana senyum sini ikut irama
Oh semua tepuk tangan
Seiring ku berlalu
Sampai menghilang dibalik layar

Akupun bersorak lepas kegirangan
Tapi kuterjatuh dari kursi goyang
Kiranya ku mimpi uuhhh jadi ratu sejagad semalam

The loose translation of the lyric:

Miss Universe – Ratu

I can feel my heart beating
When looking at my face in the mirror
My cheeks are red, so are my lips
Blossoming in challenging every stares

I put more touches on my eye brows
Also on nose, ears, foreheads, hands till my calfs
Wow… how beautiful my face is on this night
I must be chosen as the Miss Universe

I’m whispering in my heart
Is it possible for this to happen in reality
I walked along the Miss Universe’s peagant stage
Turning left and back to the right
Smile here and there following the beat
Oh.. everybone is clapping
Following my every move and passing
Till i dissapear behind the curtain

I then scream to let go of my happiness
But i fell down…. from a rocking chair…
I realised that it was a dream… urghh…. becoming Miss Universe for a night….

book meme

Ampersand Duck has a book meme with the following rules:

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 4 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5. Don’t you dare dig for that “cool” or “intellectual” book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.

———

My contribution is from Forbes’ Flat Tax Revolution:

Fifth Sentence:

“When attempting to assess the likely impact of proposed tax policies, the government’s use of static analysis has translated into consistent cluelessness – generating misinformation that is all too often accepted, without question, by the media and general public”

Following 4 sentences: (assuming points within a sentence is part of parent’s sentence)

“Some examples:

  • In 1989, Bob Packwood (R-OR) requested a revenue forecat from Congress’s Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) on a hypothetical tax increase raising the top rate to 100 percent on incomes over $200,000. The JCT responded by forecasting increased revenues of $204 billion in 1990 and $299 billion in 1993. Essentially, the JCT predicted that people would continue to work even if the government taxed them out of every penny they earned.
  • The Congressional Budget Office predicted that the 1986 corporate tax rate increase would raise government revenues from $89 billion to $101 billion. In reality, corporations altered business practices and revenues decreased to $84 billion.

And these are only two examples.

The truth is that our federal government has consistently and grossly underestimated tax collections that result from tax cuts and overvalued the so-called windfalls in revenue expected from tax increases.

The 1986 capital gains tax hike from 20 percent to 28 percent did not result in higher revenues. “

Additional sentence to provide context:

” Instead, realized gains jumped from $172 billion to $328 billion the year before the increase and fell dramatically in the years following it, to $112 billion in 1991″

“A smile happens in a flash, but its memory can last a lifetime.”

696

This string of numerals bears striking freakish resemblance to devil’s 666. To us and to me at the very least, it marks the beginning of the new era.

While I can’t foresee what the future lies. What i know beneath is a sense of freedom, a release from a form and period of great restrain, fear, repress and inhibition.

I humbly hope that it can only get better from here. The utopian wish i have always held dear.

I’m in the state of sanguineness.
